Meeting change 9/27

On 9/27, there will be a change to the regular meeting. Please plan to meet at the Fire Hall at 5:30pm for a table setup. From there, we will leave for the Pirates game. The troop has received a generous donation of tickets for the event. However, there are only a few slots. Please contact Mr. Lawrence for more details.

Fall Camporee - Search and Rescue Me

The Lackawanna District Fall Camporee will be a night camporee at White Oak Park, held September 30-October 2, with most activities beginning on Saturday night after dinner. The theme is search and rescue me, with stations including:signaling, lost equipment, search, rescue, and Pokemon Go. As usual, the cost for the weekend is only $25 to include all program costs and meals. If you have not already signed up, please notify Mr. Shopes immediately.

Washington DC trip

Mr. Ward is organizing a trip to Washington DC for the weekend of Oct 7-9. We will receive a tour of the US Capitol and are being sponsored by Congressman Doyle. Tent camping overnight will be at Camp Snyder in Virginia. This trip is primarily for Citizenship In The Nation participants, but there should be room for others. Cost will be approx $20 per scout. More details to follow.

MacGyver Challenge: Scout Edition

  • The challenge launched Sept. 21, 2016, and ends Oct. 31, 2016.
  • It’s open to registered Scouts and Venturers ages 12 to 17.

Thank You for Celebrate Monroeville Service

At the annual Celebrate Monroeville event held at the Monroeville Convention Center, Troop 143 collected 401 food items including canned fruits and vegetables, soups, cereal, baby products, personal care products, and boxed meals as well as $30 in cash to be donated to the local food pantries for our less fortunate neighbors.

For Sustainability, please bring your worksheet to the 10/4 meeting and deliver it to Mr. Ward. For Citizenship in Community, Nation, and World - please fill out Requirement 1 for each and bring it to the 10/4 meeting. Worksheets can be found on www.meritbadge.org
