The Eagle Scout Leadership Project at North American Martyrs Church will continue on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:00 PM. The work will consist of completion of the mulching, placing the gateway, and disassembling kneelers not longer in use. Bring rakes and Phillips head screwdrivers if you have them.

The latest batch of Troop 143 Class B T-shirts are available for purchase, and they are high-tech! The T-shirts are made of similar material as the Dri-Fit or ClimaCool shirts, with moisture-wicking properties. They sport the Troop logo on the left front. Shirts are available in adult sizes: Medium, Large, and Extra Large. All shirts are just $9.80. Shirts will be available for purchase at Troop meetings.

Once again, Troop 143 will march along with Pack 143 in the annual Monroeville Independence Day Parade. The scouts and leaders will meet near the Taco Bell restaurant in the Miracle Mile Shopping Center at 8:00 AM on Thursday, July 4 for the line up. Scouts should wear full Class A uniform for the event. The parade route runs from the Miracle Mile down Business Route 22 to the Monroeville Mall, ending with passing the review stand just into the parking lot.

This year from June 23-29, the Troop is planning a special week dedicated to camping, adventure, scout skills, and fun. Scouts asked for the opportunity to arrange a non-traditional summer camping experience, and this is it! During the week in addition to camping, cooking meals, and perfecting scout skills, the Troop will experience kayaking/canoeing, mountain biking, rafting, and hiking.

A number of scouts from Troop 143 have been recognized recently for their academic achievements. At the Gateway Middle School awards assembly on May 28, Jake B., Vijay C., Arman F., Jasdeep S., Harsh S., and Nate W. were honored for their grades throughout the year. In addition, recent Eagle Scout and graduating senior R.J. J. is the recipient of two scholarships: Monroeville Rotary Club Scholarship and Gateway Band Boosters Scholarship in memory of Noah Gray. On the Trem 3 honor roll at Gateway Middle School and Gateway High School, almost all scouts were listed: Jake B., Noah B., Vijay C., Matt D., Rob E., Arman F., R.J. J., Jasdeep S., Harsh S., Ben S., Andrew T., Nate W., and Alex W.

A special ceremony to honor our most recent Eagle Scouts was held on May 21. Thank you to all scouts, leaders, parents, and guests for a wonderful celebration. Special thanks to the Jones, Milne, and Sheldon families for hosting and preparing the site and reception.
