We received this information from our adopted food pantry, the Pitcairn Food Pantry (we deliver our Scouting for Food collection each year to this pantry.) "The Pitcairn Fellowship is hosting the George H. Myers 5k (run or walk) benefiting the Pitcairn Food Pantry.  Please consider participating in this event on October 4, 2014.

Celebrate Monroeville Service Appreciated

Thanks to the efforts of scouts and leaders from the Troop, 16 boxes of non-perishable food items were collected and prepared for distribution to local food pantries as patrons at the annual Celebrate Monroeville event on September 11. Eight scouts and 2 Webelos greeted attendees and five adults assisted with the collection. See photos in Photo Albums.

Annual Council of Three Rivers American Indian Pow Wow September 26-28

Troop 143 will participate in the annual Council of Three Rivers American Indian Pow Wow at their Dorseyville center September 26-28. During the weekend, scouts will assist with clean up and other duties while leading the parade of nations and observing demonstrations, dancing, crafts, and other native American activities. In addition, Webelos from Pack 143 will be invited to join the Troop to learn more about our unit and fulfill requirements.

Annual Popcorn Sale Fundraiser is Underway!

The annual popcorn sale fundraiser has begun, and there are some exciting changes this year. A new vendor offers many new flavors.

There will be military donation levels as in the past. On-line sales are available as well and can be used toward prizes. There are multiple prize levels - $600 for a skylights rocket set and $2500 with choice of prizes from a list are among them as well as a special prize drawing: every week, any scout selling 6 Steeler tins (caramel with sea salt) will be entered in a drawing for an iPad mini - the week for this purpose is Saturday to Friday.

Fall Camporee - Are You Ready for the Zombie Apocalypse?

The fall camporee is coming up, and you must be ready for the Zombie Apocalypse! The program is scheduled for October 10-12 at Boyce Park this year, and emergency preparedness is the order of the day. Scouts will be asked to be prepared to find the cure and stop the zombies from events such as Campground Invasion, Shooting, Archery Range, Tomahawk Throwing, Fire!, Supplies Drop, Zombie Barriers, Flee the Zombies, Zombie Head Race, and more!
