Gateway School District has announced its honor roll for the 3rd nine weeks at Mosside Middle School, Gateway Middle School, and Gateway High School. Once again, most of the Scouts from Troop 143 attending Gateway schools are on the list. In addition to their academic pursuits, our Scouts have participated in or are participating in winter drum corps, high school play, high school musical, swimming, wrestling, lacrosse, baseball, competitive fitness, mock trial, chess, and more.

Thank You for Scouting for Food

Posted on Apr 19 2015 - 9:35pm

On Sunday, April 12 at the Monroeville Giant Eagle stores, scouts and leaders from Troop and Pack 143 collected donations for the annual Scouting for Food campaign. It was another successful year as we collected 142 boxes containing 2366 items plus $500.90 in cash donations. This was an increase of about 19% over 2014, and it was accomplished with less man hours (96.4 in 2015 vs. 108 in 2014.) All of the donations were delivered to the Pitcairn Food Pantry that evening to help out our neighbors in need. One individual donated an entire shopping cart of food worth more than $300 during the day, similar to a donation in 2014 which Mr. Davis wrote about and sent in as a Random Act of Kindness to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Time to Update Annual Health Forms

Posted on Apr 19 2015 - 9:35pm

For most Scouts and adults in the Troop, it is time to update your annual health form for the BSA. This form, especially Part C, the physical, is only good for one year. Parts A and B can be completed by a parent; Part C must be signed by a physician after the physical examination. We must have current forms for all upcoming trips - the False Cape bicycling activity, Summer Camp at Blue Ridge, etc. - so now is the time to get the forms updated.
